 Review Guide
« Thread Started on Mar 21, 2003, 10:23pm »

PS2 Freaks is dedicated to quality and informative reviews that will help you with the purchase of a game or even a system. In order to be reliable, we must base our reviews on a simple system or rubric scale if you must. First of all, we review each game by sections. The five sections include graphics, sound, creativity, gameplay, and replay value/game length. Reviews will not have headings for each section; instead the reviewer must put everything together in paragraph form and then rate each section at the end. Each section is rated from 0-10 and decimals may be used (example: 9.2/10). The "Conclusion" breaks down the pros and cons of the game and gives the final rating. To get the final rating, we take the average of all of the sections and + or - up to 5 percent. (Example: If the average of the sections is 9.5, then the final rating could be anywhere from 9 to 10).

Rubric Scale

0-0.9 : Not even a child from the stone age would be fascinated by this game
1-1.9 : Not even *** could get you to play this game
2-2.9 : Eating rotten apples is better than playing this
3-3.9 : The slightest amount of enjoyment might be found if you like the genre
4-4.9 : Fans of the genre might have a decent time, but others shouldn't even look
5-5.9: Major flaws plague this game, but fans genre may have fun
6-6.9: Major glitches; might be rentable
7-7.9: Minor shortfalls; fans of genre should enjoy it very much
8-8.9: Very minor shortfalls in one or two areas; we recommend these games highly
9-9.4: Minor shortfall in one area; highly recommended
9.5-10: Near perfect; must have game which is worth buying a console for

To us here at PS2 Freaks, no game is perfect. If a game gets a 10/10 rating, it is because it is the best that we've EVER seen in its genre or on that generation of games' lifespan. When we rate games, we base it upon what the system is capable of and what year it was made in. I would like to add that some of our reviews will include different ratings, because some of our reviews came from Game Freaks (my old site).
